Arabic Medicine is the regional medical system of the Arab world and early Arabic civilisation, a system as rich and systematic as Chinese or Indian medicine.
It is the origin of much of European herbs and herbalism and is still a huge resource of knowledge both written and in practice. It can offer interesting new ways of using known herbs, and also some novel herbal solutions, based on a solid theoretical basis often lacking in European herbal products.
Examples that will be discussed will include new and perhaps better ways of using herbs such as Hypericum, Cichorium and olive leaf, and interesting medicinal uses of food such as seeds of Rocket (Eruca sativa), black seed (Nigella sativa) and caper (Capparis spinosa).
